My Little Sister Aja

This page is about my sister, Aja Marie. She also has EOS, but hers is in her esophagus,
sometimes called EE, or eosinophilic esophagitis. She is also on a strict Neocate diet.
She may be going to the Cincinatti Children's Hospital for diagnostics soon. I went a couple
years ago. They are the best and do research to help kids with eosinophilic disorders - like
me and Aja.

Aja loves Dora the Explorer and her baby doll, Harriet. Aja and I play barbies, and look
at books, and pretend cooking. We love to play dress up! She likes to swing on the
swing and ride her AmTryke. We play mermaid in the pool or the bathtub. And camping!
Aja loves to go camping by the lake and playing in the sand at the beach.

PT and OT

Aja did go to PT and OT every week, but she graduated just last month. They did all they
could for her and now she does her exercises and things at home. She has sensory
integration and some physical muscle problems as well. She doesn't eat very well, and still
has problems speaking because of the muscles in her mouth and jaw. She goes to School
for her speech class. Her legs get tired really fast, and her feet turn in so she falls down alot.
She has to wear braces on her feet to help her walk right.

AmTryke

She just got a really cool AmTryke from Ambucs that she loves to ride.(I'm riding a two-
wheeler!) It will help her legs and arms to get stronger. Aja is under-responsive to movement
experiences, so she craves intense movement, and seems always to be in upside-down
positions, swinging on the swing for long periods, and on-the-go constantly -- jumping,
bouncing, rocking and swaying. She always asks daddy to swing heraround and turn her
upside down.

She is also over sensitive to noise and crowds - she just doesn't do well around a whole bunch
of noisy people. She can't seem to get down a lot of the food she can eat. She gets to eat one
more food than I do - she gets to eat rice! But most of the time she chews it up and then spits
it out, because she can't swallow it. Then when her mouth gets tired - way before I get done
eating! - she is done for that meal. I get in trouble for trying to eat her food, but she is leaving it
anyway, so I don't understand why I should get in trouble for THAT.

Aja is a great little sister and I really like to play with her, but sometimes she just doesn't know
how hard she is touching and getting my attention seems like she is hitting me. Even Mommy yells
when Aja is trying to get her attention!

Aja copies me all the time! She is my little sister.
