We all have food allergies, well, 'cept my Dad. He eats everything!
I can
only eat a few things and my sister Aja is just like me, but she can
have
rice. Daddy makes us pancakes out of just corn flower and I really like
that!
Brianna says she is allergic sometimes, but I think she just doesn't
want
to eat it! She is like Daddy, but I think he eats more stuff. She has
some
other kinds of allergies, and has to take medicine like we do.
Cosette can't eat anything with wheat or gluten in it. Daddy makes her a
special bread made out of different flour that doesn't have any of the
bad
stuff in it. She can't have milk or soy, either. And no aspartame! That
stuff
is worse for you than soy! Anyway, Cosette said she feels much better
than
she did before she stopped eating that.
Mommy doesn't eat wheat or gluten, and no soy. Or tomatoes. Daddy says -
does that mean he doesn't get Lasagna? I thought that was funny, but I
am
not sure what Lasagna even is, but Daddy likes it! She doesn't eat
lettuce,
or other greens, and not much vegetables either. No MSG or Asparteme,
and she is really not suppose to have milk either, but I think she does
anyway.
We have to be really careful, because it is really easy to contaminate
our
food. Mommy calls it cross-contamination, so we have to use separate
utinsels and pans for cooking and serving and stuff like that. It takes
sooooo
long to shop, because Mommy has to read EVERY label. We get our food
at the Farmers Market (I really like to go there - we get popcorn!) or
at the
health food store. Daddy says it costs more to get food without stuff
added,
but I'm not sure what that means.
Having food allergies means we have to plan ahead for going out to eat.
Even
at our friends or family house. Sometimes we just bring our own food,
'cause
that is the easiest way to make sure we don't get sick. Eating out
somewhere
can be really hard, but we still get to have french fries at the mall!
Mommy
brings us things whenever we go somewhere, just in case, so we will
have
something to eat. And me and Aja still have our Neocate! I am drinking
mine
out of a cup now, but Aja still won't do it.
Mommy and Daddy had to learn how to make us things to eat out of what
we are able to eat. Like my favorite pancakes out of corn flour and
water,
with home-made apple jam on top!Yumm-Oh! I saw this lady on TV that
Mommy likes to watch who says "Yumm-Oh! How good is that?" I
thought
that was really funny! And Nana made us our special muffins and Mommy
made our very first ever birthday cake out of the recipe!
